About BCR

    Our Patron Saint

It's a 2-hour block of commercial-free, robot-free rock radio - mostly consisting of classic, current and semi-obscure material from the punk, metal and grunge artists of the '70's, '80's and '90's, with occasional bits of comedy and subversive, left-leaning spoken word - that airs every Saturday morning from 3-5 a.m. Arizona time on community radio 91.3 FM KXCI - Tucson.

My previous playlists are archived below. Click the KXCI button to access our online stream.

    91.3 KXCI Tucson

This is an unpaid gig that I do purely for the fun of it, to fight the cold, hard corporate fist of mind-numbingly repetitive commercial rock radio, AND because it gives me the freedom to play pretty much whatever I want, whenever I want.

Save for the sad fact that a lot of it really sucks, I don't have anything against new music per se' and regularly seek out and play new material that is more or less in line with the genres mentioned above.

That said, I am less concerned with promoting the future than I am with preserving the past.

    Peace, Love & Freak Power!

Big Business & The Melvins Destroy Tucson

Imagine getting a blood transfusion where your blood gets replaced with a thick mixture of gear oil and coarse metal shavings and then being thrown into the back of a cement mixer and rolled off the top of Mount Everest...

If you can imagine that, then you'll have just a thin shred of an idea of what it was like seeing Big Business and the Melvins live in concert...

This was my first time seeing either of these bands and I was absolutely blown away.

If you get a chance to see them, don't miss it....fucking epic music that puts all this nu-metal-whatever-you-want to-call-it shit to shame.

R.I.P. MINISTRY'S PAUL RAVEN [1961-2007]

Sad news today from Ministry's MySpace page:

Saturday, October 20, 2007 - The 13th Planet family is saddened to confirm the devastating news of the sudden and unexpected death of Ministry's bassist, Paul Raven. Raven was working with French recording artists Treponem Pal on their new collaboration with Ted Parsons (ex-Prong/ex-Killing Joke/Jesu) and members of The Young Gods in a small village on the French/Swiss border. Initial reports indicate Raven's passing was the result of a heart attack.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Raven's family and friends around the world. His love of life, artistic creations and joyful laughter touched and moved all of us deeply. The loss of this extraordinary artist, unique individual and loyal friend will be felt by many. The impact of his talents will be remembered forever but his contribution to the lives of everyone who knew him is his greatest legacy.

13th Planet has dedicated a page to the life and art of Paul Vincent Raven here.
