where's the metal?

anyone who's followed bcr since its humble beginnings in the summer of ought-five may have noticed a gradual toning down of the metal in recent weeks. yes, it's true. i don't know for how long (probably not very) but i have recently come to the conclusion that there has been, despite my best efforts, entirely too much repetition in my week-to-week rotation. part of my motivation in naming the show "bat country radio" was to create an unpredictable, "anything goes" on-air environment. and while that may have been true at some point in the past, i don't know how or why, but i somehow fell into the rut of playing more or less the same bands and artists on a recurring 4 week rotation. so for the sake of trying to keep things fresh, and also to keep things fun for yours truly, i have started tweaking the format of the show. i'm not sure which direction i'm headed with this, only to say that it's high time for a change....in short, expect the unexpected...probably more shows similar in structure and form to what i played on 12/08/07....

My opinion on so-called "throat vocals"

They suck. I've tried and tried and tried to force myself to listen to some of these so-called extreme metal bands with their guttural bleeding throat vocals and pounding double bass, but's they are all a big steaming pile of shite in my opinion. I'm sorry, but there is just no talent informing much, if any any of this stuff.
