I Heart Olbermann

Hee's the latest piece from one of only a handful of people in this country who can even remotely be construed as a true journalist.

And to answer the question posed at the end, no, neither Bush nor any of his cronies have any decency what-so-fucking-ever.

===================================================================================

"It is to our deep national shame—and ultimately it will be to the President’s deep personal regret—that he has followed his Secretary of Defense down the path of trying to tie those loyal Americans who disagree with his policies—or even question their effectiveness or execution—to the Nazis of the past, and the al Qaeda of the present.

Today, in the same subtle terms in which Mr. Bush and his colleagues muddied the clear line separating Iraq and 9/11 -- without ever actually saying so—the President quoted a purported Osama Bin Laden letter that spoke of launching, “a media campaign to create a wedge between the American people and their government.”

Make no mistake here—the intent of that is to get us to confuse the psychotic scheming of an international terrorist, with that familiar bogeyman of the right, the “media.”

The President and the Vice President and others have often attacked freedom of speech, and freedom of dissent, and freedom of the press.

Now, Mr. Bush has signaled that his unparalleled and unprincipled attack on reporting has a new and venomous side angle:

The attempt to link, by the simple expediency of one word—“media”—the honest, patriotic, and indeed vital questions and questioning from American reporters, with the evil of Al-Qaeda propaganda.

That linkage is more than just indefensible. It is un-American.

Mr. Bush and his colleagues have led us before to such waters.

We will not drink again.

And the President’s re-writing and sanitizing of history, so it fits the expediencies of domestic politics, is just as false, and just as scurrilous.

“In the 1920’s a failed Austrian painter published a book in which he explained his intention to build an Aryan super-state in Germany and take revenge on Europe and eradicate the Jews,” President Bush said today, “the world ignored Hitler’s words, and paid a terrible price.”

Whatever the true nature of al Qaeda and other international terrorist threats, to ceaselessly compare them to the Nazi State of Germany serves only to embolden them.

More over, Mr. Bush, you are accomplishing in part what Osama Bin Laden and others seek—a fearful American populace, easily manipulated, and willing to throw away any measure of restraint, any loyalty to our own ideals and freedoms, for the comforting illusion of safety.

It thus becomes necessary to remind the President that his administration’s recent Nazi “kick” is an awful and cynical thing.

And it becomes necessary to reach back into our history, for yet another quote, from yet another time and to ask it of Mr. Bush:

“Have you no sense of decency, sir?”

Democrats formally embrace religious ignorance

"Our world is fast succumbing to the activities of men and women who would stake the future of our species on beliefs that should not survive an elementary school education."
- Sam Harris, "The End of Faith

Having been outslimed, outsmeared, outcampaigned and outmaneuvered at just about every turn by Herr Rove and the the GOP Ministry of Dirty Tricks, some DNC brainiac now thinks that out-Jesus Freaking the Jesus Freaks is the way to move the party forward.

Yet another reason why I'm not a Democrat.

Ghazal Omid

I just caught the last part of her appearance on this morning's edition of C-SPAN's Washington Journal.

To say the very least, I was profoundly impressed with Omid's courage and outspoken criticism of the Iranian regime and the pathetic and shameful manner in which Muslim women are treated across much, if not most, of the Islamic world.

I'm currently reading Sam Harris' "The End Of Faith" - a book that among other things posits the idea that there is no way for someone to be Muslim without also being anti-modern, murderously backward, vengeful and misogynistic.

The emergence of strong-willed women like Ghazal appears to show otherwise and I look forward to reading her new book, "Living in Hell",  just as soon as I finish with Harris' blunt and very necessary anti-religious tirade.

One can only hope that her example will inspire other women in the region to rise up against the institutionalized barbarity that has kept them down for entirely too fucking long.

Republicans Tell America to Shut Up and Go Back to Sleep

If you've got a strong stomach and solid anger management skills, check it out on C-SPAN right now...I've already had to resist the urge to fling this laptop out the window about a half dozen times.

Fuck bipartisanship....

Republicans are hollow, soulless and hypocritical fascist pigs who deserve nothing less than to be tarred, feathered, brutally sodomized and collectively driven into the sea.

Every soldier currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan should immediately lay down their arms and abandon their posts.

If our elected officials won't fight for Democracy here, why should anyone fight for it abroad?

Kenneth Blackwell Proud He Fucked America

This miserable, low-rent, piece of Republican shit deserves to have his balls ripped off with a plastic fork.

Bitch-Slapping the DLC

If you’re one of those Democrats who is eagerly looking forward to 2008 as the year this nation will finally be free of GOP totalitarian rule, think again.

If Al From, Donna Brazile and the other soulless DLC hacks get their way, the Democrats will be locked out of power for far into the foreseeable future.

Some might ask why I feel this way about the future of the Democratic Party.

While I could rant and rave at great length about what’s wrong with the party, right now my main grievance is with how the DLC is joining the likes of Fox News and the RNC in bashing Michael Moore.

If From and his fellow cronies think that Michael Moore represents what’s wrong with the party then they are even more fucked than I’d initially thought in the days following the election.

As far as I’m concerned, Al From, Ms. “Cooking With Grease” Brazile and their spineless ilk at the DLC can go ahead and keep on bashing Moore. As long as they continue to blame anyone but themselves for the Democrat’s failures, they will eventually wake up and discover that they are the only ones left in the party.

I voted for Nader in 2000 because I wanted to vote my conscience and also because I honestly didn’t think this nation would be stupid enough to elect a buffoon like George W. Bush. And I was right, we didn’t elect him, but Bush wound up in the White House anyway.

So in 2004, despite my preference for Howard Dean, I bought into the DLC blather about how the war hero Kerry was more electable and look what happens – he allows himself to be tarred and feathered as a waffling, anti-American traitor by Karl Rove’s political Wehrmacht.

The way I see it, fuck From, Brazile and the DLC - we owe this party nothing.

If it means that we have to pack our bags and start a brand new fucking party from the ground up, then so be it. That’s a much better plan of action than crucifying Moore and the other people on the Left – the Democratic wing of the Democratic party - who had the spine and the balls to say what needed to be said and put their asses on the line.

Former Bush campaign hack indicted for phone-jamming

Talk about being a day late and a dollar short.

A full two years after the 2002 elections, James Tobin - Bush's former New England campaign director and Republican Senatorial Committe regional director - was indicted for jamming Democratic get-out-the-vote phone banks on Election Day.

All I can say is that if it could happen then, it sure as shit could happen now.

IQ Matters

This is a very interesting table that, if accurate (which it seems to be), confirms what many of us here in Thinking America have long suspected.

Another Year, Another Fraudulent Election

As bigots, greedheads and jesus freaks across America continue to fellate themselves following their alleged "victory" - journalists Greg Palast and Thom Hartmann have revealed that - despite all the media blather about how smoothly this election went - although less blatant than the electoral sodomy of 2000, Kerry won this election, and the American people have been fucked again.

*******

This just in: Ohio officials uncover further evidence of vote fraud.

*******

And now this, regarding voting irregularities in the South.

*******

From Nov. 6, Yet another Hartmann piece on the increasing evidence that the '04 election was hacked to favor Bush.

Edwards' Parting Words

Listening to it on AAR right now. He just said that although we can be disappointed, we cannot walk away and that the fight has only just begun.

Only just begun?

What the fucking fuck, over?

I thought the fight started four years ago when half of this once-great nation was collectively assfucked by the Bush regime and their legions of slackjawed, entrail reading, anti-science waterheads.

If that raw treachery, and everything else that has gone down since then isn't enough to kick-start this party then I have no earthly idea what will.

George W. Bush could stroll out onto the White House lawn wearing whipped cream underwear and dragging a leather-clad Gimp at the end of a leash and half the fucking country would still follow him into the bowels of Hades.

Kerry's on now spewing the standard pithy gibberish about everyone's good work, the need for healing, coming together, and moving forward, blah, blah blah....

Fuck that...Kerry should bitch-slap and pistol-whip Cahill, McCauliffe, Shrum, Brazile and every other hack campaign operative that worked on his campaign.

After he's done that, he should mail each and every one of us who voted for him a big fat tube of KY for the John Holmes-style reaming we will all receive during the next 4 years.
